Digging in water line in a ditch East of Saskatoon. Little bit slough-y. Was backfilling the trench and took too big of a bucket... got a little stuck, tried to get unstuck and with each attempt sunk deeper and deeper. Had to hand-bomb several yards of dirt to even get the door shut (was operating with the door open at time of sinking... duh.) Vader had to sit for 2 days until we could get another machine out. Sunk over 14 inches over that time.
Spent half a day moving dirt around with a backhoe, packing and making ramps and platforms. Had to rent a Case CX 260 to come out to the scene and buy a $500, 132000lb tow rope. Once the backhoe had the scene prepared, moved the other excavator in and tugged the other one out slowly but surely.
This is the #2 lesson learned... as it is the second machine in the same spot that has been sunk this year. oops.
